August is the holiday month in Italy. CROWDED!

Here in the island Favignana, some 10 miles outside Trapani, west Sicily

But in September much less crowded

Or because my daughter and gran kids was here?

Searching for the buildings from the lovely movie “Cinema Paradiso” in the Sicilian city Bagheira,
but found only these funny figures:

Sardinia to Sicily, 170 miles, 38 hours

A very nice airshow the day before we left Sardinia, probably not because we should leave.

A beautiful trip to Trapani, Sicily, where we at once felt at home in the fantastic fish and fruit/veggie markets to nearly half prices compared to Sardinia. And even more friendly, relaxed and human people. Without going too deep what a big difference it is between these two islands, belonging to the same country!

Bonifacio, Corsica

A famous old city due to a deep narrow fjordlike inlet and because houses are very close to the cliffs end. Now in end July extremely crowded and busy with lots of tourists, boats of all kind and cars. Very expensive marina. It was an easy decision to leave for a nice quiet bay in north Sardinia again.

North East Sardinia

Olbia in the middle of this area, is a dirty port with big ships/ferries but with a very pleasant, clean and touristic city.

Around Olbia there is a large area with a very beautiful archepelago with lots of nice beaches to drop the anchor. If you prefer to visit a marina, you will be robbed, it’s very expensive indeed!
For instance, per night
Circolo Nautico in Olbia, 78€
Cavallo in Olbia, 125€
Rotondo, just N of Olbia, 205€
Porto Cervo, N of Olbia, 150€ for a mooring buoy

20130721-164958.jpg
The beaches are wonderful, but on weekends crowded.

Iglesias, Sardinia

Today we visited the city of Iglesias with train, some 60 km west of Cagliari. Iglesias have a reputation as “the city for Honeymooners”. However we could not find out any special reason why this nickname. Maybe we have honeymoon every day onboard Cantana3?

Happy Mid Summer in Cagliari, Sardinia

Today Friday June 21 is the longest day in the year. This day is very thorough celebrated in Sweden in all different ways. Please visit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8ZLpGOOA1Q&sns=em

We however celebrated this day by staying in a marina located in the very heart of the fantastic city Cagliari. A really beautiful and clean city with lots of gorgeous old restored buildings.
When I visited this city first time by boat 20 years ago (!) it was rather worn down and dirty. Indeed it has changed totally.

Now it’s also famous for all well designed and well built “buildings” on two legs. I do agree.

Thanks Ikea for sill and snaps:
